My Interview with Tegan and Sara (with help from Madonna)

I must admit, I have a thing for Canadian music. Many hours spent producing The Sunday Show are usually accompanied by streaming radio provided by CBC Radio 3 and I have discovered so many artists as a result of their delivery of “breaking new sound”. Tegan and Sara are Canada’s successful twin sister songstresses, getting their start recording crude mixtapes and touring the US and Canada on Greyhound buses and now touring the world and playing to throngs of international fans. They are smart, talented and sick of always answering questions about their sexuality.

The night before this interview I won New York’s semi-finals at the Drop Dead Gorgeous Beauty Pageant at Beauty Bar, securing my position in the competition to represent New York City in the national finals, held in Las Vegas. It was a late night followed by a very big day: the Tegan and Sara interview was held in non other than the office of brilliant publicity maven Liz Rosenberg who has worked with Madonna since the beginning of her career in the early eighties. The energy of the “Madonnica” throughout the space fed my spirit to say the least, and even though I had so much hairspray in my hair the producer just gave up and pinned it all back, not to mention the skirt I was wearing being called “too risque” for the network (hence myAn Affair To Remember-esque blanketed pose on among the stuffed animals) the interview was a success.
